How to Use Variable Pricing
This user guide is intended to help you understand what variable pricing is, how it works, and the different ways it can help you set to the pricing you want.
What is variable pricing?
Variable pricing is a setting in our platform that allows you to set multiple prices for each of your services. This gives you, the pet sitter, ultimate flexibility in how you price your services whether that's charging a different amount for cats or dogs, one dog or multi-pet bookings, sitting at your home or sitting at the pet's, etc.
This isn't templated because there are so many different ways sitters may want to customize this, so below we are giving further guidance on how to use this and some ideas of variable pricing options that may be useful to you.
How it Works
Without drop-downs or templates to select from, it can seem a little complicated at first glance, but we promise you it isn't really, and there are just a few guiding principles to keep in mind:
-
When you are pricing, your price will always be per 'space' being booked. This means that if you want to offer a multi-pet discount, instead of titling the price rate as "Two dog price" at $90, you should set it up as "Multi-pet booking rate" at $45 each.
-
Always ensure that your available spaces match the available pricing if you are accommodating multiple animals. This means that if you want to book looking after 2 dogs at your house, you need to have those 2 spaces available to book in your calendar.
-
You can add multiple price variations, but recommend trying to keep your pricing as simple and clear as possible for pet guardians.
-
You can phrase your pricing however you would like, so long as it is clear and doesn't include any offensive language.
-
You will need to check that the price variation a client chooses for the booking is the right option per the details of their booking. If a client chooses a weekly rate for a 3-day booking, then you can decline the booking with a note to ask them to rebook under the rate that you need them use.
